  1. Do not waste a perfectly good potato here. Use googies method. It will work the first time and you may end up doing this anyway. {and you can still eat the potato!}

  2. Make sure the power to the bulb is off.  Cut a potato in half and jam it onto the remains of the bulb (careful).  Unscrew.  You could also try needle nose pliers.

  3. while eating 1/2 of cut potato use needle nose on the un plugged lamp to remove all old bulb glass over trash can.now use needle nose to remove base.finish by eating other half of potato under light of lamp.and who hard wires lamps

  4. The best way to remove the remnants of a broken bulb is to use another bulb. If all that remains in the light socket is the aluminum base off the bulb, you can use another bulb. Push the new bulb down into the old broken socket and while pressing down, twist it as if you were removing the bulb (counter clockwise). If this doesn’t work, use a pair of needle nose pliers. Holding the pliers in a closed position, push the tip into the broken socket and spread the jaws using both hands. This will grip the inside of the broken piece. Then turn the old bulb base out counter clockwise.

  5. IF you DO use the potato --- please make sure that you wipe all moisture out of the socket before putting in the new bulb!!

  6. un plug the lamp, cut a potato in half, press it over the light bulb and twist it should come off.it worked for me.

  7. If you unplug it before removing it will be fine. put a new bulb in while it is still unplugged

  8. Disconnect the lamp. Remove the shade.twist the bulb counter clockwise to see if it will unscrew from the socket. Use needle nose pliers to get the base from the socket if the bulb detaches .

  9. Unplug the lamp (or turn off the circuit if it is hard-wired).

    Slice a potato in half,  jam it into the residue of the bulb and rotate counter-clockwise.
