Question:

How to remove a sticker and residue from a guitar?

I would really like to remove a sticker from the back of my guitar, and although it will peel away easily enough, it leaves a sticky residue.

Does anyone know of a substance that will remove the residure without ruining the finish on the guitar?

Thank you =D

(if anyone is wondering, its just a simple fender squire, so the finish is most likely just plastic)

  1. What usually works to remove sticky labels is common lighter fluid, available in most supermarkets. Lightly dampen the label with the lighter fluid and in a minute you should be able to peel it off. If a little residue is left put some of the fluid on a cotton swab and you should be able to wipe it away.

  2. A product called Goo Gone is available at almost any department store.  It will remove pretty much any sticky substance.

  3. ice?

  4. wipe on some baby oil, let it sit for a bit then wipe it off. it will not harm the finish

  5. peanut butter, but be patient and let it sit for a few minutes

  6. I'm not sure if it will hurt the wood finish or not but Vinegar takes stickers off of picture frames and glass. may want to test it on wood before you use it on your guitar.
