  1. Depending how big it is you can either use a shovel and an ax or you can buy a few bags of charcoal. Dump the charcoal on the stump; drench with lighter fluid and light the coals. let it smolder and it will eventually burn the stum down to below grade(ground level) If it's of decent size you'll need to keep adding charcoal until you get your results. This will take a few days.

I would stay away from the chemicals you might see in the stores that you pour on stumps as they generally take WAY to long to work.

  2. If you don't have a truck and a chain and a shovel...    Then you need a REALLY BIG shovel!

    .. or BURN IT!!

  3. With a shovel, pick, ax and a strong back and a lot of determination!

Be sure to drink lots of water!

  4. We used to have a whole bunch of stumps in the backyard and we just dug 'em out. We had a rusty old saw that didn't work, (I suggest that you use a manual chain saw, it'll help you get into the tight spots) but we got 'em out.

If you think it's loose enough, you can hook it up to the back of a truck and start driving!

BTW you DON'T want to burn it out, even though it may be faster. Believe it or not, when a tree root catches fire, it can smolder underground for YEARS and eventually cause a fire.
