How to remove background audio.?

Question

Not necessarily background audio, but the hum that is recorded by my video camera. I tried removing noise in Audacity, but it made it worse with a squeeky noise. Can someone please help?

If Audacity didn't work you could try Acoustica, but they use the same techniques, so I'm not optimistic.  I'd try again, but make sure you've got a good sample of the noise and nothing else.  Try recording a sample in a quiet room.  If you still can't do it you'll have to look for more advanced apps - they're very expensive and not easy to use.  Noise reduction is more black art than science so good luck!
