Question:

How to remove broken spark plug bushing

I'm working on a buddy's 78' Honda CB750. He asked me to change the plugs. Three came out fine, but one snapped off! Now the threaded bushing of the plug is stuck in the cyl head! The bike was in storage for over 25 yrs and he didn't anti-seize the plugs.....:(

The problem is, I can get an EZ-Out (s***w extractor) into the bushing, but cannot get a tool onto the EZ-Out because the plug is recessed into the head so far! I don't know what to do from here..... Idea's please!

  1. First you need to soak the plug in a break free solvent. then go to your neighbor hood tool shop to see what is available as they make easy outs that are longer. either that or make and adapter entendor for the one you have.

  2. Buy some penetrating oil like PB Blaster, Kroil or use hydraulic fluid, diesle or Bio-Diesel to soak the threads.

Let it sit overnight. Do NOT rush this step. Withthe plug being in so long let the oil do its thing. The other suggestions about longer tooks etc are just fine.

  3. there are some extensions available that will fit the easy out or you could find an extension that fits your ratchet and weld it to the extractor.
