Question:

How to remove burned plastic from glass-top stove?

I had a boil-over and used a towel that had polyester (plastic) in it to wipe the glass-top stove off - now there is some baked-in residue on it. What can I use to remove it without scratching the surface? I've tried everything from magic eraser to regular home cleaners - nothing helps. Thanks!

  1. thats happened to me and i use a single edge razor blade regularly since for ALL cleaning of my stove. The other person is right. Use it carefully like at a 45 degree angle or so. Scrape and it should come off with some patience. Dont heat it up it'll get sticky and the razor wont take it off as well as cool. A great cleaner for glass cooktops is Whink glass cooktop cleaner. its hard to find and a little expensive but cleans really well. Good luck

  2. For all spills on my glass top range I use a powdered nonabrasive product called Bar Keeper's Friend (in a shaker container like Comet/Ajax) on a damp cloth, sprinkling it lightly directly on the surface. The great part of this - Bar Keeper's Friend is under $2.00 at most stores where the cleansers are found.

  3. Judicious use of a NEW single edged razor blade.....

  4. You could try laying paper towel on it and running an iron over it to melt it off, depends how burn it is?!
