Question:

How to remove corn kernels from the cob without damaging the kernels?

Is there a trick for removing corn kernels from the cob while keeping the kernels whole? Is it easier to remove the kernels when cooked or raw? If I use a knife to slice them off, of course some of the kernels will be cut in half because the cob is round, but picking each individual kernel off by hand is very tedious and time consuming, plus there's the hard bit at the end of the kernel which sometimes comes off when you pull it.

  1. I haven't found anything other than the time-consuming pick-the-kernels-off when-the-cobs-are-raw method.
