How to remove driveshaft?

87' t-bird 5.0L , how do i remove the driveshaft? i removed 4 bolts and the driveshaft is loose but I can't pull it down cuz the shaft or whatever it is is sticking out from differential and its holding the driveshaft, it wont' let me lower it

  1. You remove the rear u-joint and it should pull right out. You might have to remove the cross member to.


  2. It sounds like the flanges are froze together. Tap a scraper or screwdriver between them. Pry the drive shaft towards the front of the car and it should drop down.

  3. take a big screwdriver and pry it loose from the pinion yoke, then tape the u-joint so you wont lose any of those needle bearing out of the u- joint.
