How to remove drop-down scroll of recent searches on a search engine?

there's this drop-down scroll of my recent searches whenever i type a letter on google. how do i disable it?

  1. TOOLS--> internet options,-->browsing history

    -->delate all history files


  2. yahoo toolbar is under "settings", "clear recent searches". IE7 is tools, internet options, under browsing history, click delete, then "delete forms" under delete data.

    IE6 is tools, internet options, click "content tab",click "auto complete" then click "clear forms".

  3. turn off autocomplete
