How to remove exteior paint from carpet?

Does anyone know how to get exterior paint off of carpets? My husband had paint on the bottom of his shoes after painting the outside of our house and walked on our very light colored carpet!!!!! Its dark dark blue there is not a lot but I would really like to get it out without spreading the color around.

Put Dawn Ultra on it with a little water let it soak for about 5 minutes then work it around and it should come up. You might need to do it a couple of times.

Let the paint dry completely and then use sandpaper.Make sure you rub in all directions.Basically you are scraping it of the fibers.Some fibers will come off but nothing significant.I am a professional painter and this is what i do.It saved my life many times.Dont touch the paint while its wet,you will just rub it in even more and then you cant get the stain out with anything.Once it's dried it's easier to get off. Forget about scrubbing it with chemicals,it's hard work and you will still end up with stains even discolouration.If its not much then sanding is the way to go.When sanding go in one direction( not back and forth)then change direction.
