How to remove imitation gak like material from berber carpet.

Question

For easter my son received an egg with this clear green glitter putty. I let him play with it inside (big mistake) it got onto our carpet and I cannot remove it. It's extremely hard and I have tried to make it more pliable by putting a small amount of boiling water and "combing" it out. That did nothing. If anyone has ANY advice on how to remove this I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Try whacking it with a hammer and see if you can break it off.

I have a recipe for Flubber - it's kinda like Gak.  This was part of the recipe:

Keep the Flubber away from your carpet and hair, as it will stick!  Use white vinegar as a solvent.

Hopefully vinegar will work.  It couldn't hurt to try.
