  1. if truly impacted, go to a doctor to determine if surgery is required.  if just "late" then try apple juice, or check with a pharmacist about OTC stuff that's available.

  2. this sometimes happens to my kids if u pick ur child up and put his legs straight like u were sitting on the floor with ur legs straight it pops out i know it sounds crazy but it works

  3. let them drink or eat prune n alots of bananas n lots of water is good also

  4. This is best done by a trained health care provider. If done improperly, you can perforate the colon.

  5. One of my cousin's children had the very same problem.  Since she was a baby every once in a while she'll have a problem with constipation. Her pediatrician suggested prune juice and raisins, swabbing petroleum jelly and bringing her legs up kind of pushing them up to her belly, and if need be use a glove covered in petroleum jelly and very gently swabbing the inside to try to get it out.  You want to massage the babies a little bit first with the jelly before you go in as to not tear them inside (pushing a rock of p**p is trauma enough to that area).  I'd voice this concern to your doctor and get his/her opinion on it. My cousin's daughter is 5 now and still they have to deal with this, but maybe your doctor can suggest something better.

  6. Ask a doctor.

I've heard glycerin suppositories are ok for kids...but always check with your doctor.

  7. Try giving them a tablespoon of light corn syrup in their milk or juice / water.. this works wonders! Good luck

  8. ask your pediatrician... you should not be sticking your fingers into the kid... you could vagus stimulate and stop his heart.... killing him.

stool softener or even an e***a in pediatric formulation SPECIFICALLY for that age group.  Again, I urge you to consult your pediatrician, children are sensitive.

  9. This happend to my stepson. Have them drink a coffee cup size of prum, apple and pom juice or just apple juice plan and straight! That will totally work! Apple and coconut juice is a natural stool softner!

  10. Eat a lot of fruit. Make sure they are of different varieties.

  11. I seriously just went thru this with my 1 yr old and the doc told me to give her Fletcher's Castor oil and let her play in a tub of warm water or take her swimming.  Something like that to distract the child from what is really going on.  And get some Vaseline gently push a little of it into the child's r****m and around the area because it might help them from tearing.  Good Luck!!

  12. Doctors put the glove on and lube up the finger and work it out like you suggested. I would call the clinic first to be sure you are doing it right though.

  13. Prune juice!!

  14. Feed them more fruits and veggies and less milk if you give them lots of milk or cheeses. Also feed them diced prunes. I believe there is a childs laxative at Walmart in the pharmacy section you might check on. You can ask the pharmacist if your kids ages are ok for the products or call your childs dr and ask what to do...Good luck..poor little kiddos... :(

  15. give them pear juice or diluted prune juice EVERY day. this will help prevent the constipation.

give them fruit with their breakfast as well as their lunch. fruit and vegetables are delicious natural fibre which helps tremendously with constipation.

give water ONLY as a drink. they don't need milk, they don't need anything other then water, prune juice and pear juice. anything else can spark constipation in sensitive children.

in they are getting impacted stools on a regular basis, they need to see a doctor. there is a chance that their a**s' are too small - which is more common then you might think. Surgeons can perform very basic procedure of using a water filled balloon to "open" the a**s a little more. this will help with all stools in the future. If it is something as simple as having a small a**s, getting it fixed at this young age will save your children years and years of discomfort and straining.

    best of luck x

  16. it depends on if it is sticking part way out or not. Last summer my then 19 month old got impacted while we were camping. I saw him strain for 5 minutes (red face, sweating and everything) then went to change him and found a little rabbit t**d in his diaper. When I went to wipe his butt he was trying to push more out. I seriously thought  he was going to tear...he looked like he was giving birth to this p**p. I grabbed a wipe and kind of wiggled it out. Once that first p**p came out the rest followed easily. I would not personally stick my finger IN the child, just grab what is already sticking out partway.

my son has had occasional constipation since he was 4 months old. Now that he is 2.5 years old I make sure he eats fruits and veggies, and I limit his banannas and apple juice (both very binding). I do give him the occasional dried prune or glass of full strength pear juice. that usually does the trick.

if this is an ongoing problem you might want to see if your doctor can give you a dosing chart for miralax...I have heard that it is being used regularly in children now.
