How to remove oil dipstick tube on a 96 ford escort with 1.9 engine?

  1. it should just pull right up out of the engine, most of them do.


  2. I usually just use a curved-jaw Vise Grip with some Duct Tape on the jaws to grip it as low as possible, and then rap it with a moderate size hammer from underneath. Always worked fine for me. I wouldn't recommend twisting, if you want to re-use it.

  3. Simply twist and pull. If you broke the tube off, and you are trying to remove what's left, find a s***w or bolt that you can use to twist into the stub. Then use whatever you can get clearance for to pry the stub out, similar to a claw on a hammer to remove a nail.

  4. I'm not sure if the dipstick on the 1.9L is the same as the 2.0L,but on the 2.0L you remove the engine oil dipstick tube bracket bolt that attaches the tube to the intake manifold.Once bolt as be removed you take and pull-up and twistthe dipstick and it should come out.
