  1. Go to this link for instructions. http://www.xp-vista.com/spyware-removal/...

  2. http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.p... run this and see if it fixes your problem.

  3. As you probably already know, Antivirus XP 2008 or 2009 is not an anti virus, it's malware (basically a virus/spyware) Follow these instructions to remove it:

To remove it, I recommend downloading Malware Bytes' Free AntiSpyware. You can download the free program here: http://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-set...

    Follow these instructions to use:

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

    * Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.

    * If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.

    * Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.

    * The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.

    * When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.

    * Make sure that everything is checked

    * Click Remove Selected.

    * When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)

    * The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.

    Extra Note:

If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

Also, after Malware Bytes' AntiSpyware cleans up your machine, you should really download Avira AntiVir free anti virus. It works wonders on my machine. Also download SuperAntiSpyware free. It also worked wonders on my computer. Good luck!!

  4. Update and scan with your anti virus/spyware software.  McAfee is good.

  5. Stephanie thank you so much.  I'd been at it for about 6 hours before I came upon your answer.

Thanks to everyone else too- didn't need to get as far as your solutions.

I was sick of downloading stuff that scanned, found it and then told me I'd have to pay to remove it.  What a load of flannel is out there.  I have wasted so much time today.

The relief when I saw the programme removing 58 items was palpable!!!!
