Question:

How to remove scratches on Polarized lenses?

I own a pair of Oakley Gascans. The lenses are bronze colored and polarized. I was working outside with them when they got nicked. Its not really a big deal but I was just curios if it could be fixed. Its not deeply scratched. I was looking at the Lense Doctor or Lense CPR product, but it says that it does not work with sunglasses that have anti-glare solution (is that the case with polarized lenses?). I do not believe it is worth to spend $70 on a new pair on lenses. Is there anything else I can do? Thanks.

  1. I will advice you to wash your polarized sunglasses with warm water and a dish washing degertant, then vlean them with a microfiber cloth. Then apply a coating of scratch remover polish. If that's not available, you can use petroleum jelly, furniture polish, or non-abrasive white toothpaste. Any of these products may fill in the scratches, making them less noticeable. You will have to rub this coating in a circular motion over the scratch. If the scratch is still visible, rub the scratch for another 10 minutes. In order to remove the oily residue from the lenses wash the glasses in a warm and soapy water.
