  1. Ken is correct, and once you sand off the old gel - you may need to use a die grinder to get the crack out - then refill with new fiberglass and resin.

    Gelcoating takes special equipment - and training.


  2. these creaks are called crazing,it happens because gel-coat is very hard and brittle and the under-layment [fiberglass is flexible],crazing occurs because of stress and or age.to repair you must grind away the gel-coat at the damaged area and patch with fresh gel-coat.there is alot of sites to help on the net,just type in [gel-coat repair]

If your boat is a beauty, like an expensive "show boat", then completely re-do the gelcoat like in the first 2 answers.  If you have a "tuff boat", the kind that you treat right, but won't win any awards, than perhaps I can help.  I use 2 different products that work great, and are inexpensive and quick. 1 is the little tube of Evercoat: Gelcoat Scratch Patch.  The other is Capt. Tolleys Creeping Crack Cure. Both avail from marine stores or the net.
