  1. this really depends if you have clicked the popup icon by the time (bottom right)

if you havent.. then get these tools onto a usb key and use them from that on the infected machine.

Firstly, kill off your services, click start run type msconfig, click startup, click disable all (leave av on if you want). click services tab, put a checkmark in the hide all microshaft services and then click disable all, there are common ones that need to be left on (pml_driver, OSE.exe ) these are okay to be left on.

next get combo fix, run it

then get smithfraud fix run it

then get superantispyware and run it

then get hijackthis run it and remove all bho's

then get ccleaner and run it (registry scan too)

now its time to do an online scan  (i like bitdefenders)

if your permissions have been removed/altered run dial-a-fix to restore permissions etc.

  2. Warning! Win32/privacyremover.M64 is a new Fake message which is associated with AntivirusXP2008, Antivirus XP 2008, Antivirus 2008, Antivirus 2009. Rogue AntiSpyware software. The message says:

“WARNING! Spyware detected on your computer! Install an antivirus or spyware remover to clean your computer.

    Warning! Win32/Adware.Virtumonde

    Warning! Win32/privacyremover.M64“.

Usually, when you see a message like this in your PC it is usually a desktop background which was changed to such writing, as described in the warning above. There is, though, a small but crucial difference between the reality and the suggestion, namely, this warning message was produced by a trojan, o another malware to trick you into buying the related useless and harmful products like AntivirusXP2008, Antivirus XP 2008, Antivirus 2008, Antivirus 2009. Do not trust the warning and remove Win32/privacyremover.M64, and the related software, as soon as possible.

  3. Xp antivirus is pretty tricky to get rid of...it being a rouge antispyware.

Easiest way is to just download Malbytes from http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/mal...

Scan, select everything, and remove it...it's specially designed for it.

  4. You are already infected.  You need the tools below to clean up the problems.

If necessary, use a flash drive in another computer to download the recommended products below, and then run the programs on your computer from the flash drive.

Our computers got this nasty thing Antivirus 2008  too.  I was able to get rid of it, but it took more than one solution.  I've outlined the steps for you to easily follow below.

It installs many files onto your computer and reeks havoc. It drops TOO MANY file to delete individually.

List of all those files here:

    http://www.symantec.com/norton/theme.jsp...

There are 3 things that you need to do all 3

    below A, B, and C.

These tools do an EXCELLENT job, and the "home' versions are FREE to the public.

(The business versions you should purchase)

    A.

    Avast free Home Edition

    Get it here:

    http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.ht...

And please do a "thorough" scan as soon as you get it downloaded. The user interface is simple. Click the left side, and in the top menu that comes up, select thorough scan.

When it finds a culprit it throws up an alarm, then you DELETE the culprit, (do not quarantine).

Then allow it to run all of the time, and you will be completely protected. It will "automatically" update itself, also for free.

You only need to renew your registration once a year, also free.

Note: I KNOW of several people who have used AVG and Norton and have gotten a virus anyway.

Don't go with Zone Alarm as it is hoggy and conflicting.

I've tried them all, and have had wonderful results with DEPENDABLE AVAST for the last 5 years.

The corporation I work for uses the Pro version, and has never has an incident. Avast is your answer.

    B.

Get free Ad-AWARE spy-removal tool from Lavasoft

    http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/ad-a...

    1. Download, install and run this program weekly or more.

Then you can be really confident that you are protected at all times.

    C. Maybe this step is redundant, but I still recommend you do this:

Perform a system restore to a time BEFORE the infection. Got to START > Programs > Accessories > Systems Tools > System Resore >

follow the prompts and select a date and time before the infection >

    Restart your computer

Last note:  IF your computer is so deeply infected that the above steps are not possible

Here are instructions for manual removal:
