What is the best way to get tar spots off cars? I went through roadworks quite awhile ago - in a white car :( - so the spots have been there awhile now all up under the wheel arches... I've heard WD-40 will work, is there anything else that would do the job? I had thought maybe turps but would that strip the paint?? (yes i'm female!)

  1. get some bug and tar remover or kerosene will work if you dont rub too hard.

  2. there is stuff called goof off that works

  3. You should try using a once a year wax......I think its called Nu-Polish.

    Its in an orange bottle.

  4. You can use WD-40, deisel fuel, fuel oil, or kerosene.

Dampen a soft cloth with it and rub it out. You do not want to fill a sponge and slop it on.

After you have cleaned it off, wash your car with detergent and then wax it.

  5. paint thinner will get it off

  6. Yep Turps,It works and does not wreck paint job or You can use a tad of kero on a rag also too easy.

  7. Use WD-40. Or car parts stores sell tar remover.

  8. There are a number of products available for tar, such as Duponts

    Bug & Tar Remover etc..

Just remember, it will strip your wax off the paint so be sure to

apply wax after you've cleaned it with soap & water after using the

remover. You don't have to do the entire car, although it would love

to be waxed. At least wax the spots where you applied cleaner for now.

And don't delay.. The more days it sits or  weeks, the  harder to clean.

    Good Luck to you...
