My son applied toilet bowl cleaner to the tub thinking that would be the fast way to clean it, for some reason on the side walls of the tub it left bright orange stains were the gel like substance made contact but it did not do it on the bottom of the tub. He has the best intentions but it back fired.

Thanks for the help, i have pictures upon request.

  1. Rinse the tub well first , then try some soft scrub with bleach ,Comet or Bar keepers friends...

  2. It depends on what it's made of.  Porceline tubs should clean up really easily.  Actually, toilet bowl cleaner is a very good and fast way to clean tubs.  It will eat right through your fixtures though.  Make sure all the residue of toilet bowl cleaner is gone first, then just clean with comet or ajax.

If your tub is formica, it more than likely has eaten the top coat/protectant of the tub.  It is hydrocloric acid, remember?  Either way, good luck
