  1. Step1

Remove the shower curtain from the curtain rings very carefully. Lay it down, either in the tub, the shower floor, or the bathroom floor. If any part of your shower or bathroom floor is made of wood, take the shower curtain to another part of the house which has a tile or linoleum floor for the next step.

    Step2

Mix 1 cup of white vinegar and 1/2 cup household ammonia in 1 gallon of warm water in a bucket. Put on rubber gloves. Yellow household gloves are most effective, but disposable latex exam gloves are cheaper and can still be reused several times. Use a sponge with a plastic scrubber on one side. Dip the sponge into the water. Starting at the top, begin rubbing the shower curtain gently with the soft side of the sponge. Slowly but surely work your way down the shower curtain, stopping at intervals to wring your sponge out in the bucket of water. Pay special attention to the inside of the shower curtain, but be sure to also wash the outside.

    Step3

Turn your sponge over and use the rough side to remove any stubborn soap scum. Take care not to rub too hard. You can also use a light duty scrubber if you're concerned about damaging your shower curtain.

    Step4

Rinse the curtain off in the tub or shower, or take it outside and hose it off. A clothesline is particularly helpful for completing this step.

Step5Allow the plastic shower curtain to dry completely, and check it for any remaining spots of soap scum. If you find any, go over it with a spray bottle filled with equal parts of vinegar and water and a clean cloth.

    Step6

Rehang your shower curtain on the curtain rings.

Open a window and turn on an overhead fan when working with ammonia. Also, wearing a surgical mask or bandanna can be helpful to those with chemical sensitivities.

If your shower curtain isn't particularly dirty, you can omit the ammonia altogether.

Disposable latex gloves can usually be found at your local dollar store.

Never mix bleach and ammonia. The combination will produce poisonous fumes.

  2. Here's what I do and it really works great.

Take the plastic shower curtain down and put it into a washing machine full of warm soapy water with a tiny amount of bleach in the water. Throw a bath towel in with it.

When it has finished washing, rinsing and spinning, hang it back up in your shower and let it dry.

It's very clean again after that. You don't need to keep buying new ones that often.

  3. Mildew remover and lots of elbow grease.

I would not recommend putting it in the washing machine!

Or you can do what I do - go the dollar store and buy several plastic liners (I prefer the clear ones). When the curtain gets gross, replace with a fresh clean one!

  4. Washing machine with vinegar and a towel or 2.  To prevent in the future close the curtain and sponge off excess water with a towel after showering.  When the time does come to replace it there's a mildew resistant liner available.

  5. Just wash, with laundry, it in the washing machine it works for me all the time.

  6. throw it in the washer, some vinegar and a tad bit of soap.

  7. Any kind of mildew remover will get it off. But to prevent this from happening after you shower close your shower  curtain after you use it so it can dry without building mildew.

  8. if its the plastic one i would seriously throw it away and get another one they dont last forever they get descusting there only like 5 bucks, or use lime away 409 any cleaner but it might be more of a pain to clean it thats why i mention if it were me i would be another on much easier

  9. ~~You can wash it in your washer with two bath towels (for greater scrubbing action), on hot water and softener if you have it (deters scum build up). I add white vinegar to  the bleach dispenser to get the water build up off it. When done, just hang to dry and it looks like you just bought it!~~

  10. as long as you didn't buy it at the dollar store you can wash it in the washer. i usually throw mine in the dryer for a few minutes just long enough to get the winkles out, but then you have to hurry & hang it back up while it is soft & warm. if it cools down it will get stiff & wrinkly
