How to remove the tub drain from my 40 yr old tub. I tried tub wrench, liquid wrench, won't budge?

  1. If heat doesn't work, in an extreme case you might try cutting with a hacksaw blade through the fitting from the inside towards the outside on opposite sides of the opening.  The danger in this is you do not want to cut through to the threads.  I have done this before, and was able to weaken the fitting enough to be able to collapse it slightly with pliers, and that was enough to break the bond and then remove the pieces.  If you don't care about any of the fitting and the threads are not an issue, then it is even easier.  You just need to weaken the inner part of the fitting enough to remove it.


  2. If you aren't interest in saving it, take a sawsaz to it then ply it up with a s***w driver. My brother is a plumber and I watched him pull mine out like that.
