How to remove tile & grout sealer off ceramic or porcelain tiles?

Question

The tiler did not clean the tiles properly after grouting. He then sealed it, leaving the beautiful tiles covered with hazy streaks that will not wash off.

Its been a while but I think there is a specific Haze cleaner solution & then you could re-apply the sealer again just make sure you give the grout a good scrub before applying the new sealer.Try going to your local specific tile shop they should be up to date with the latest products & ask for a Haze remover or cleaner & he should be able to advise you further.Good luck with it all.

Like Peter I d go w/ a grout remover 1st .Acids can take the glaze right off the tile.. First call the tile person back..Ttile should be free of any grout haze before sealing..If you can t get them back try it yourself.. Hydroment makes a product called Remove.. I ve used it along w/ a white nylon "scratch pad"  or doodle bug  it s called..get these at you regular mom and  pop tile shop..They may use a differant type product just talk w/ them, it s better than some big box stores  GL

I would make them come back and correct the installation.  If that isn't an option you could try using a mild abrasive like Soft Scrub on a few inconspicuous tiles.  That may be enough to get through the sealer.  Then with a clean sponge and clear water wipe the tile down well.  The sealer doesn't belong on the tile any way, just the grout.

Scrub with some vinegar and water. I use a microfiber washcloth.

I’m afraid Muriatic Acid is about your best bet, but this stuff can be tricky to use and potently dangerous. Make sure that there is plenty of ventilation in the room. Use an exhaust fan and another fan for air movement. Also wear the proper face, eye and hand protection. Follow the instructions on the label for the proper dilution. Use a stiff brush and with a circular motion scrub the floor. (As if you were applying wax on your car) rinse with clear water and reseal.

try vinegar and water about 50/50 it works for me,good luck.
