there are water stains in my toilet where the water drips down after you flush and they won't come off with anything!! they are kinda green/brown coloured, they are really stubborn and really annoying!

i have tried:

Domestos

Bleach

Domestos & bleach together (although you probably aren't supposed to mix them!)

Harpic White & Shine Toilet Cleaner

Easy Off Bam toilet cleaner

Clorox Bathroom Cleaner with teflon

Simple Green Limescale remover

bicarb soda

vinegar

bicarb soda & vinegar together

someone said scrubbing with half a lemon would do the trick but noooo

i need to know something that will actually work and is available in Australia!

thanks

  1. You seem to have tried most of the products I would recommend..try Ajax professional ultra bathroom spray its in a purple spray bottle...or Bam easy off power lime and scale remover (its got an orange cap).  those 2 are bathroom essentials. My hubby suggests if these fail try Hydrochloric acid available from hardware stores like Bunnings , its very toxic so use gloves and dont spill it on anything delicate , its what brickies use to clean out the cement mixers so it is really strong stuff.  Do not use a steelo or one of those curly steel scratchy things as they will damage the porcelain, use a plastic one or a good stiff scrubbing brush.

  2. I see the last person recommended CLR.  That is what I would recommend as well.  It works awesome, but I'm not sure if they sell it in Australia.  You may be able to buy it on their website.

  3. The spotless stain book recommends CLR and it seems to work for me on just about all stains but you will need to turn the water off next to the toilet so the water running down doesn't wash the CLR off before it does the job and you may have to do it a few times if it is really bad.

You need to have your toilet adjusted inside the cistern to stop this happening otherwise it will continue to stain.

  4. Try some muriatic acid. You need to have the window open or an exhaust fan going. Very toxic. Cover your fixtures in the bathroom. They use this to clean pools.

  5. The only thing that seems to help me is a product called "The Works".  In my area our water seems to have a lot of iron in it.  I tried several products, but NOTHING worked until I tried "The Works".  It is a disinfectant toilet bowl cleaner.  It states on the front that it removes rust, lime scale & hard water stains.  This is the only product that I found that could remove the orange stain from my toilet.  IT WORKS!

  6. Is sno bowl availabe?  It will work no doubt!  Ive been in the cleaning business for over 10 years.

  7. You need to fix it so water does not drip after you flush.  Remove water from bowl.  Make a paste of cream of tartar and 10% hydrogen peroxide.  Let this sit for an hour.  Then take a pumice stove and rub it where the stain is.  If this doesn't work try oven cleaner.  Let it sit long enough to work. That is the secret...let it sit overnight.

  8. Hi, try CLR that might help.
