How to remove webcam icon from windows live messenger?

i know that you go to tools then options and tick the box off, i still do that, but the icon doesnt go away. and i dont even have a webcam plugged in my computer.

This happened to my friend. If you unchecked the box and click OK no one else will see it. It can be annoying but no one else can see it with the box unchecked, but it stays for you. Maybe you have a USB cord plugged in that the computer recognizes as a webcam? I'm not sure.

Unplug any USB that may not be connected to any of your technology machines.
