How to remove your name off whitepages directory?

I just want to know how you can take your name off the whitepages directory. I like to maintain my sense of privacy.

you can call your phone company and ask not to be listed. I think it costs something like 2$ extra each month

I agree that you can contact the phone company to request an unpublished number. Your name will appear with the number (ask to change your number to unpublished immediately) until the new edition of the book comes out. Your name should not appear in the new book when you change it to unpublished. Also it will not be given out in information when someone asks for your listing.There will be a charge for an unpublished number.

Use white-out... just kidding.  

You can get an unlisted phone number.  Call the phone company, they can help you.
