Question:

How to repair a bleached out lawn?

I had my roof redone and the contractor left a tarp on my lawn for debris for an entire day. The next day the area of lawn that had been covered started looking dead, and now it is completely faded and very dead looking. It doesn't feel crunchy though. Wondering if this will remedy itself or if you have advice on how to get the green back in my lawn. Thanks

  1. It's not from lack of sun, not from one day. More like too much sun. The heat from the tarp fried your grass. Keep it watered and it will be OK, but it won't come back overnight. This is a good way to kill grass, if you want to put in a garden, BTW. You'd be surprised how much heat builds up underneath.

I'm a roofing contractor, and I've done this, and I've had the lady of the house very upset with me. Lady, "it'll grow back" I said, but now I take pains to keep the tarp on the lawn for a minimum amount of time in the summer.

  2. Its like that from not having any sun.  Rake the grass up using plastic leaf rake and then water it and it should grow back.  I've had things on my lawn for a day and the grass was always fine.

  3. It will be fine.  Just as long as a chemical was not poured on it, it will bounce right back.
