How to repair a cut in my fiberglass boat

I have about a 4' cut in my fiberglass boat from a skill saw. How do I repair this?

  1. four inches long and the width of the blade?

    Fill it with marine-tex, sand it down, problem solved.

    It's a permanent repair.

    West Marine has it, Bass Pro Shops, any marine store.


  2. Is the cut 4 inches or 4 feet long??  If 4 inches, use marine-tex as Jtexas said and that will do the job.  However, if it is 4 ft long, fill the crack with marine-tex AND reinforce with cloth on both sides as 45 cal described.  

  3. with a fiberglass repair kit. Sand a vee shape where the cut is and re-fill with fiberglass.

  4. You need to grind a 4" area around the cut>Both sides> Then fill crack with polyester puddy>Then glass with 11/2 oz cloth 3 layers inside 2 out> Sand to smooth
