Question:

How to repair a hole in fiberglass?

My boat has a small (1"X1/2") chunk missing at the tip of the bow. Is there anything available that will allow me to fill this with the same color as the gel coat without using Bondo and re-sanding, and then repainting.

  1. i agree with mark, fiberglass repair kit. no way around sanding and repainting that i know of.

  2. Nope.  Best thing is fiberglass and fuss.

  3. bondo isnt the answer Vettebond is! bondo doesnt bond well enough to fiberglass. you will find the product is harder than Bondo a bit but you will still need to paint the repair. I would try doing the repair and masing the area with a stripe of similar color.

  4. bondo fiberglass kit, really no other way around it. do it right, do it once

  5. Sorry you will have to use Bondo at some time but what you want to do is use tight mesh then apply one coat and let it dry then apply one more thicker coat then sand lightly then apply a base then paint then gloss for sealing
