How to repair a leaky carport? ?

I have a metal roof carport that is leaking from where the metal sheets where nailed onto the wooden under structure. In other words the nails holes in the metal. I'm not sure how to repair those. i think I would need to ge up on the top of te carport but I'm not sure if it wouldsupportt me?

  1. Basically have have a problem in that where the nails meet the wood, you cannot get to the nail hole.  Unless you are willing to try to pry almost all nails up a bit using a pry bar, then placing some silicone caulk at the nail hole, you are going to have to get to the top of the structure.  I would then place a button of silicone caulk on each nail head.  If the problem is vertical support you are in for issues. You may end up having to shore up the vertical supports with sister boards.  If the problem is horizontal support, spread your weight by placing either long 1X6 boards or plywood on the top and then caulk as much as you can.
