  1. buy fly repellant, duh!


  2. spray white vinegar on you and the horse, also citronella helps as well

  3. I own race horses and they are plagued by horse flies. Skin so soft by Avon is fantastic (honest) or you can make your own solution by using cider vinegar and garlic powder. 1 quart of vinegar with 1/8th of a cup of garlic powder. It stinks, but it works. These suggestions are a lot cheaper than buying commercial products.

  4. Fly swatter!

    No - I'm only kidding.  Go to the local farm and feed store - there is this powder you can purchase to rid of horse flys - those are awful and they hurt the horse.

    That's what we use to use.   I don't know the name but, it's a powder.
