  1. As far as I'm aware (if you are in the UK) British Telecom are the only people who can install or replace master sockets but you can fit extension sockets yourself.

  2. Buy a master socket from a supplier and fit it. If it goes wrong BT get very annoyed and make horror charges for refitting.

  3. Hi John

Its very simple to do, but the master is managed as such by the phone company, if you have a fault, ring them up and they will chnage it, but if not, then pop into your local DIY store pick up a master LJU (line jack unit) and a plastic wire inserter tool and swap like for like. wires should be on 2 & 5 on the rear of the LJU, if you have or want the new style, then its goes to A & B terminals.

thats it!, if you get stuck get in touch.

  4. I have no idea why you would want to replace a master socket.   Did you break the casing ?  Is it in the wrong position ?   Do you wish to have a socket in another room ?    I wish you had given more information.

By the way you are NOT allowed to tamper with a master socket ( UK )  only an extension that you have installed privately.
