How to replace a water pump impeller in a 50 hp nissan outbord thanks?

  1. You have to drop the lower unit from the bottom of the motor. You will see a cover held on with 4 screws Remove it and you will see the impeller, should have 4 or 5 rubber blades on it. pull the set s***w out and pull the old impeller off, slide the new one on the shaft. Make sure the blades are all going in the same direcition. Put the set s***w back, put the cover back, put the lower unit back in place and you should be all set. Hint, if the motor is used in salt water, spray wd-40 on all the screws and bolts the day before. Good luck.


  2. You need to unbolt the leg of the power head and then when you pull it off you will see where the impeller sits.  Fit new impeller and re-bolt together.
