How to replace files in Vista sys32?

With my new vista machine I tried to install a lexmark printer from discs but only later I find vista cannot support this. Then due to conflicts that freeze my computer I remove anything start lex from my sys32 folder (bad advice I now believe)

I need to try and replace these

my OS is installed and not a disc.

Anyone an idea where I can find them please?

  1. well lets try to get your print spooler working again:

You have to remove all the Print Spooler service dependencies besides the the Remote Procedure Call.

    Click Start and press Run

    Type

    sc config spooler depend= RPCSS

exactly like that or copy paste it in.

Your Print Spooler service should be able to run now that all the dependencies are removed.

Unplug the printer USB and then reconnect it after a few seconds and everything should be ok even if you may have to re-install the drivers again.

    Hope that helps.

  2. its hard enough on windows xp to sort out problems with the system 32 files you will not stand a chance on vista especially as you do not know what you are doing.

with vista they ask you when you first start up to make a back up disc of the OS do they not. well if you did not do it then you are stuffed...

  3. System restore or search for 'sysprep' to re-install pre-loaded windows

  4. I've just checked my Vista sys32 folder and there is nothing starting with lex so maybe your problem lies somewhere else.

Try reinstalling the Lexmark software and then uninstall it. that should tidy up any references in the registry and currently missing files.

EDIT: I should have said that! I've got a Canon printer.

EDIT2: Found the web site below, have a look at the info immediately after step 14 and perform steps 15 through 17. Looks like that should do the trick.

  5. You need to so a system repair from your CD. Even if it is pre-installed you must have a CD.
