How to replace hard drive in camcoders?

I am planning to buy a hard drive camcoder, but I don't have any idea about the reliability of hard drive in camcoders. What is hard drive carsh? can we recover it? if not can we replace the hard drive? what would be the cost of these hard drives.

A lot of questioners have had problems after their HD camcorders have had relatively minor accidents such as falling off a chair - I don't think they're very robust yet.  The people offering a hard drive recovery / replacement service don't seem to advertise their prices, which is probably a clue.

A head crash is when the heads come into physical contact with the magnetic disk - whether or not you get away with it depends on how lucky you are.
