How to replace my cracked iPod Touch?

O.K. I accidently dropped it BUT Apple don't seem to want to replace it (that's the telephone support people).

So when I get to the Apple store, how should I approach them? I don't think being polite will work to be honest, and everyone knows the saying 'whoever shouts loudest gets heard.'

They SHOULD replace it for free if you have a 1 year warranty, which most iTouches are purchased. So, if you have one, go back to the store you got it from with the warranty. If you don't have a warranty, then Apple do replace the screen for a fee, and this can be extremely expensive.

Other than this, I really can't see how else it can be replaced.
