I applied for a web developer job, the company wanted my portfolio. So i sent them with resume. Looks like they are quite impressed with my work and the company replied me asking when I'm free to come down for a chat. What do i reply? Should i take it as interview or just some normal chat on the job's requirements? Should i say i could meet on a saturday??

  1. Give them a date and time that is convenient for you, that way you don't appear to be indecisive or wishy-washy.  I would probably make it sometime Monday morning since it is already late Thursday night.

  2. i think its a informal chat leading to an interview - this is if the company is really big and there are standard procedures. However, usually, if the chat goes well, that will be your interview. Please DO NOT propose to meet on a saturday. Propose to them say 'mid next week' - give them a few days to work around the schedule and see what they say. I mean, they are the ones busy at work and you are the one who needs to please them.

be prepared to talk abt your portfolio and your web design experiences. research on the company and see what they do, who their clients are, the projects and so on, so you can raise the topic during the chat. im sure they will be pleased with you.

remember to bring your impt portfolio stuffs and another copy of your resume.

  3. is the business going to be open on a saturday?  sorry, that was a rhetorical question.

duh, they are asking for an interview!  a 'normal chat on the job's requirments' would be.... an interview too!

    congrats and good luck.

  4. Interview,,,,I would ask if you could on a Saturday. The worst that could happen is they say, they aren't open on Saturday, and then they will probably ask you about coming in on Monday.
