Hi, my 2007 for mustang v6 has an electronic top speed limit set for 110 mph. I am planning on supercharging it as soon as i can afford one but i'm not sure how to reset or change the top speed limit. If anyone has details on how to do this it would be greatly appreciated.

THANKS

  1. Please do some research before doing this.

Like check the Roush site and see what all they include in a supercharger upgrade.

Do you need a different rear-end and or transmission.

Be aware that the weak spots under the hood are the power steering pump, a/c and  alternator. These units will self destruct even when the stock rev-limiter is left in place.

The current method of determining speed for your dash is controlled  by the ECM. The speed sensor is electronic and must remain in place.

The redeeming thing is that you can reprogram your ECM with the right interface and program.

If you do not do the research, expect failure. If you can afford the cost of failure, maybe you should just have the Roush up-grade installed by some one who has done it before, like one of Jacks shops.

  2. It isn't a speed limiter , It is a high gear rev limiter to stop the engine from over reving and damaging the engine. so if you plan on going over 110 plan on changing the engine.

  3. all speed limiters are set in the calibration of the factory PCM. If you know a calibrator for Ford you could have him turn it off for you. Or you can look into an aftermarket programer most of them have a higher speed limiter programed into them. Also since you are going to be doing this I would suggest taking it to a dyno shop to have it tuned. This way they can take care of it for you and give you a nice custom tune for your modifications.

  4. There is a governer in that car. if you pull it out the car wont run.so replace it with a new racing or just regular ECU chip, ask kragens the will find you one.once its replaced its up to you how fast you go.
