  1. Toss them, they are probably more of a head cover than head protection.

  2. you get a video camera and do homemade jackass episodes, other than that, i see no uses for them

  3. Go to a motorcycle dealer or accessory store where they have good polish, wax and odor removers.  Walk past all those products to the new helmet section, and begin trying on NEW helmets until you find one that fits the best.

If you are unfamiliar with how a new helmet should feel, get an employee to help you.  It should be snug against your head, but not uncomfortable, and it should squish your cheeks into a slight fishy-face.  It should NOT move around on your head when you turn from side to side.

The old helmets?  Recycle or dispose of them.  You have no idea how much damage could be underneath their shiny candy shell.

  4. throw them in the BIN..

$10 helmets only fit on $10 heads..

If thats all your heads worth....   then who cares what they use to look like before you hit the car....

  5. dont reuse them

  6. Toss 'em!  Just like everyone else says!  Good answers, people!

  7. You're kidding right?

You don't really think a "banged up" helmet is worth anything do you?

  8. Throw them out.

  9. The safety of that helmet could be compromised. The Eps liner, shell, etc. could be damaged therefore weakening the integrity of the helmet. I would consider just getting rid of it and getting a new one.

  10. dig a hole in the ground, place the helmets upside down in the hole and use them for flower planters.

seriously, dont use second-hand or banged up helmets EVER

  11.    Trash them,  If they look rough it is cause they have been droped a lot and not taken care of.  Buy new if you want to do the right thing.

  12. Dump them.  A helmet protects your head by absorbing the energy of an impact.  It does this by self desctructing in a gradual and controlled manner.  Damage to a helmet may weaken it to the point where it's useless.  Even a deep scratch or two in the shell could create stress points, where the helmet will fail first and with reduced force.

The worse case is where the resin between layers of the fiberglass or kevlar shell get compromised.  The damage isn't visible, but it's been done.

Use your head, buy a helmet and protect it.
