Question:

How to restore files after deleting it with avast?

Oops. Now I've really done it. I deleted a very, very important file with avast! antivirus. So now the question is, what can i do to get it back? Please, please tell me that there is a way to do this. If i don't get it back, I will need to spend at least 4 hours reconfiguring what I have deleted. Yes, I know I'm dumb.

More info: Ok, so what happened was I ran the scan and found a "trojan." It happened to be on an important file and i was skeptical and so i clicked the delete permanently button instead of deleting it to the recycle bin...which is what i wanted to do until i found out it was very important.

Thanks for any help!

  1. Hmmm...there appears to be no way to recover the file.

However, I highly suggest you use "System Restore":

Start >> All Programs >> Accessories >> System Tools >> System Restore

This method, I believe, can recovery system files, but not documents.  Nonetheless, the trojan will also be recovered.  Hopefully, Avast! didn't delete the "System Restore" file too.

I suggest you put all infected files into virus chest. There's no loss in keeping a virus as a prisoner, you don't have to feed it.

Wish you the best of luck...(unfortunately, you're going to need it.)
