  1. hi there

when a pc has no back up disk theres a recovery partition installed on your hard drive instead

to activate this you need to press a specific function key(normally f10 or f12) and this initializes the recovery process

unlike using a recovery disk with a partition recovery you can recover your p.c with or without loss of personal data

you will know if you have this feature by going to administrive tools>disk management and checking to see if you have a small 10gb partition on your hard drive

it wont be visisble from windows(my computer) however it can be seen from the disk managment utility

                   any problems let me know

                             good luck !

  2. First you insert the cd that has all the softwares when you bought your computer. Then after windows starts you have to press f12 i think or try other f buttons. After you press the right f keys a screen should appear having two options 1. Boot from hard drive 2. Boot from cd drive.

Choose the second one. Then select restore to factory settings. Then just follow the instructions on the screen.

  3. You mean reinstalling windows xp?

If so, you'll need the recovery disk that came with the computer or a full edition of windows xp

You may also have a recovery partition on your hard drive that will have the pretty much same effect as the recovery disk

Note: it will delete all your files

Accessing the recovery partition on your computer depends on the brand but if you are using the disk these are the instructions

  6. Your PC should have come with a backup disk. Run this and she'll be good as new.

  7. 1 boot the installation cd

2 when you get to see he partitions highlight them, press D to delete, do this on all of them.

3 press c to do a clean install.

note set the bios to boot from cd if it dosent boot-up

  8. I'd STRONGLY suggest you back your data up.  If your computer's really that bad you are headed to a full reinstallation.

Try securitytango.com for spyware and generally cleanup of the crud that a computer  gets.

    BUT back your stuff up.
