I recently got a camcorder as a gift from my aunt but umm... I dont really want it, I know where she bought it from but obviously since I dont want to be rude I dont want to ask her for the bill of sale.

Is it possible for me to return the camcorder to the store (BestBuy) without the bill ? Is there anyway they would process a return ? Does anybody here know a way to do that ?

  1. you dont! the store is under no obligation to accept it as a return without a receipt

  2. Sometimes they will let you do it, if the box is in mint unopened condition, and if the serial number is in their database (so you can't return an item from a different store).  They will check the price record and give you the lowest price that the camera has sold at for the past 6 months or so (to prevent you from buying the camera on sale or at a cheaper store and then returning it for a higher price refund).  Also the refund will probably be store credit only.
