How to reuse an envelope?

I have been writing a lot of fanmail letters lately, and when I get my SASE back, I want to know if I can reuse it again.

Should I just put a piece of paper over the old stamps and put the new stamps on there? Or is there another way?

I have reused envelopes.  It is important to cover any existing used stamps and cancellation stamps.  I use postal tape, because that tape is easy to affix new stamps on.  Other tapes make it hard to keep the new stamps on.

Don't reuse envelopes too much though, or you end up getting an empty envelope back because the stuff fell out of a worn crease.
