Question:

How to rid a home of a permeated air freshener smell?

My mom has rented an apartment. The tenant before her used those Glade Plug-ins. My mom is highly allergic to these sorts of chemicals. Does anyone have any idea how to get the smell out? The landlord painted (don't know if he painted the ceiling), but he didn't paint the closets. He used eco friendly paint and there is no paint smell. He also tore up the carpets and put low VOC flooring down because she told him about her allergies.

My mom also rented one of those professional machines that can get smoke/smells out of a house when there is a fire. She had it on for two days. When the people took it out, she left the house shut up, hoping the ozone would rid the smell. Several days later, we went in and the smell knocked you down at the door. It almost seems worse since the machine.

Please help me and tell me if you know of something that for sure will work. Only serious answers please!

  1. It may take a while to get those odors out. I've got a good solution that I've used myself for same problem but just not from Glade plug in's but candles..and safe and totally fragrance free. . Go out and get a handful of the FRIDGE-IT activated carbon odor absorbers - little purple cube - not the imitations. costs around $3 dollars each and put one them around apartment.  Totally unscented so it actually eliminates odor rather than covering up with some nasty fragrance.

I've used these for worst smells including spoiled fish in car and for closets, fridge etc. Also have two cats and use these on litter box - they are FANTASTIC> No spills or chemicals to worry about. You can buy these in kitchen gadget stores or just go direct which is what I do - contact them at customerservice@innofresh.com and ask for order form. You get it right away.

Definitely the way to go. try it.

    Good luck
