How to rid a house plant of insect pests?

I planted an avocado pit last year and it has since grown into a tree thats about 2.5ft tall. I keep it in a pot on my porch. During its early growth it lived inside but I've put it outside because its summer and it gets more sun outside.

My dilemma is that autumn/winter is approaching again and I will have to take the plant back inside, but since its been living outside it has acquired several invertebrate species which I do not want living inside my house.

So, how do I prepare my tree for indoor living so that I don't have pests nesting in my dining room?

  1. Just pick up some Safer insect spray and follow the directions on the bottle.

  2. they sell spray's at the hardware store you can buy to get rid of the bugs in your plants.

  3. Mix dish detergent with water and spray the plant for 3-4 days. When you're sure there aren't any more insects bring the plant inside. You may have to do it during the inside period also. I had the same problem and the soapy mixture worked. I used Dawn.
