Question:

How to ride a bicycle?

I'm sixteen and I haven't ridden a bicycle in 11 years. I tried my new bike (which is fit for someone my age), but I can't seem to pedal right, and I keep losing my balance. I'm too embarrassed to ask for trainer wheels & trainer help b/c, obviously, I don't want to feel embarrassed. Tips on how to maintain balance and pedal properly?

  1. HAHA I HAVE YOU ANSWER. Okay you have to buy pegs find a simi big hill and stand on the pegs while going down it, some time durring the middle of the hitt sit down and try pedeling

    KEEP TRYING UNTILL DONE RIGHT

  2. From the advise i've heard so far, you're heading for a crash.

    1. When you sit on your bike, both your feet should firmly touch the ground. Adjust your seat to the correct height.

(experienced road riders normally have their seat so high that thier feet won't touch the ground).

    2. Find a FLAT training ground. Smooth cement is best (in case you crash). I would use an empty parking lot.

    2. It's easier to balance on a moving bike then to balance standing still. Actually if the bike is moving you don't need to balance at all, it stays up naturally.

With that in mind, push yourself foward with both your legs. Keep kicking foward with your legs if you have to. When you are moving and you are ready, lift your legs off the ground. You should be cruising now. This should give you a sense of balance on the bike and train yourself to stop safely.

    3. Now kick off and start pedalling. If you had practiced step 2, you should be farmiliar enough with cruising that you will not panic if you can't find the pedal beneath your feet.

You'll be able to figure out the rest yourself as you go on.

  3. 16 years cant ride a bike! thats rare maybe you have some sort of ballance disorder?

first train you ballance firs lean the handle vars againts a wall and then push with your arm until you get the ballance right and when u do start going on concrete downhill and when u mastered that start pedalling downhill and then pedal on flat level ground and u will do it in no time like a day or two or ask someone to grab you so that you dont fall and wear a helmet(just in case!)

    and good luck!!!

by the way i'm 15 and downhill race so i know bikes!

  4. Don't worry about it. Find a quiet patch of grass in a park or something and just keep practising. Sooner or later it will just come to you.

  5. Lost and lots of practice

  6. Practice.  You don't need training wheels, just sit on the seat and keep your legs down.  Push off the ground and practice balancing.  Once you got the balancing down, then you can pedal.  Being that you did ride a bike at one time in your life, you shouldn't take too long to relearn how to ride your bike.  Best of luck!  P.S. Wear a helmet.  ;-)
