  1. I think you should spend a little time riding saddle. But, riding bareback is basically just like riding in saddle. Hold on with your legs and make sure to keep your heels down. Its really fun!

  2. Just make sure your balance is down in your seat.  Attach your butt to the horse and don't let it come off.  Keep your weight back and down in your jeans pockets.  You might feel comfortable to let your legs go a little more forward than normal since you're bareback... I don't think that's a bad thing... it will help keep your balance back.

Bareback will really help you find your balance and that will help you with any riding that you do.  You might adopt some bad habits that will help you stay on the horse bareback... a girl at my barn rode bareback more than with a saddle and she learned to keep her legs really far forward with her toes down... she really had to work to fix it.  Just recognize that some things will be different in a saddle and remember when you go back to the saddle that you need to ride with the proper position.

  3. Riding bareback is nothing that can be explained here. Just do it. Riding bareback really helps with balance and your body movements guiding your horse.

  4. I never learned to sit well in a saddle until I spent some time riding bareback. It really tunes you in with the movement of the horse, and I recommend you hop up there and give it a go.

  5. i rode bareback when i was little its easy you just get on do not let go i just got a new horse and i have to learn how to ride in a saddle and put it on and how to put a bridle on i did not use a bridle when i was little

  6. Leslie you just asked if you should lease him

now your telling us you don/t know how to ride I would NOT LEASE MY HORSE TO YOU NO WAY NO HOW

  7. bareback riding is extremely good for balance, muscle development, and many other skills. my mom made me first learn to ride bareback to get my balance, u dont kno how many time i came close to the ground. but i dont think u should be leasing this horse if u dont kno how to ride it bareback, it would be best to get help from the owner or an instructor. but anyways, u should sit close to the withers of the horse and your legs more forward. Focus where u want to go with your eyes, dont look at your horse. Use your body more than the reins, horses can feel your movement so shift your weight and look where u want to go, dont forget about legs. to many riders, wen riding bareback, try to balance on their reins, use your upper thigh muscles!!! Also, sink into your heels but keep your legs loose and relaxed. First practice at a walk, trot and lope, you may consider using a bareback pad. Well, have fun riding!!! C :

    HAPPY TRAILS!!!

  8. Riding bareback is fab for your lower leg posistion.I ride bareback alot, and you should just sit and let your leg hang long and low. In trot, lean slightly back and let your shoulders go back , just absord the movement. NEVER grip with the knees just wrap your legs around your horse if you feel nervous. Bareback gives you a good seat and leg position and helps make you confident, I would take the saddle from the owner as you need to use a saddle now and again!
