How to run PS3 through ethernet box?

Hey, I have a ethernet box by my computer that has 2 cords. One runs into the wall and the other into the back of my computer. Sometimes I put the computer cord into my laptop and everything works fine. The question here is, If I put the computer end of the cord into the back of my ps3 will it do any harm at all to my connection the box or anything at all? (by the way I get my internet through my cable company if that helps). If this way is harmful please provide another way that isn't.

If you connect the cable from your box to PS3 (and if you follow all instructions) - you'll connect your PS3 to internet and PSN. ;-)

Give it a shot man.... the worst that could happen is that it turns into a nuclear bomb somehow and destroys half the world!
