How to run a 6-2?

ok well i am in 8th grade and we are running a six two. My team isnt good because i play soccer too and i am the best by far. So The passes are usually not very good and they shank the ball alot. We are playing with a backrow setter so when we recieve a freeball and it is going to the back row between me an another player should i get it even though i am a setter because the passer isnt good. or should i not and go to the setting position. Because in my middle school I would play lebaro and i would always have to get the ball that was even close to the setter so they could get into base at the net. What should i do?? also since i have had alot of experience with volleyball (i played on my middle school team as lebaro and we won the state tournament) and i dont want to be bossy but i really want to help the people. and it really annoyes me when people let the ball hit the ground right infront them, or if they get second ball when i could get it. please help me!!!

  1. i dont know sorry

  2. I am with you there, my highschool team was kind of like that, 6-2 is very difficult. I was the setter for my team and finnaly what my coaches made me do (because i was running every where, nobody ever got it right to me) was stand in a box and the backrow people had to get the ball to me so I could set it, nobody had to hit it for a while, but we would start at 10 if they let the ball hit the floor we lost 2 points and if they shanked it or if i could not set it we lost 1 point, for every ball i could set, we gained 1 point. if we made it to 25 we won and if we got to 0 we lost then had to run A LOT!!

  3. does your other setter stay in and play right side?.  If she does then dont feel bad about taking the passes . the other setter will step in.  Talk to her, let her know that you plan on taking more passes.  And the best way to deal with a crappy team is to lead by example.  Keep playing hard and diving for everything. Try to encourage them and dont get frustrated or else it will bring the whole team down.   Good luck for the rest of your season!!

  4. I assume that you are talking about your club team.

It would be a shame for your club coach to admit that your passers are not good, but when reality comes into the picture, you would have to do something to get your game going. One solution to that problem is to run 4-2 instead of 6-2.

You need good passers in back row to run 6-2, as there are only 2-1/2 players in back row. The setter could only take some and will have to let other back row players take most of passing.

I can feel you when you said you play L at school. As a libero you go after each possible pass so that other players can go for their approaching and run their play. As a setter you would want to *avoid* taking the first hit so that you can take the second hit. You are actually helping your team to run plays if you could stay away from going for the first hit when you are in back row. I can understand that it takes some time to get it going, as I used to play MH and when I saw a high pass I walked backward to the 10-ft line (and I did all possible pass to make sure OH are focusing on hitting), but now I play some games as a setter and I would have to go for the second hit and stay away from the first hit.

Call it a mental game, and you want to be THE winner!!
