  1. What is the time you are trying to get to, is 5 min. 59 sec. good enough, that's under 6 min. 45 sec, it all depends what time you are trying to archive, the lower your time the faster you have to run, if you are running on a standard school track

4 laps is one mile, then would would have to run each lap 11.5 second faster to run a 5.59 mile, if you want to run faster then 5.59 then you have to run each lap faster,  but trying to do that with only 5 days left is asking a lot, also have you ever run faster than 6.45 mile,  running each lap 11.5 second does not seem like a lot, but it is, go run one lap around the track, the rest one minute and run it 11.5 second faster the next time, it is not easy ... good luck

  2. Its too late to train for that extra speed now. Maintain what you are doing, maybe go out for a test run tomorrow, time where you want to be at certain times for the big day. Think positive. Can you get someone to pace you on the day? Start at a slightly less pace and really push the last half? Good luck. Let me know how you do. I have run a 4.30 in the past, racing is 75%, 25% is mental.

  3. go out as fast as possible and never give up. find someone to run with and don't let them out of your sight. try using longer strides too. if you just go a little faster, in the 6 minutes i think it is easy to drop time . i went from a 6:31 to a 6:07 in 2 days by just going a little faster each lap and trying to pace right. and just keep passing people!!

  4. eat some carbs about 30 minutes before and stretch really well and make sure you keep on running until then

  5. try running 400m. repeats (6-8) at the pace you want for mile. this will really help. do it a few days before. and do something easy two days before your meet.

  6. When i run competitively i leave it all out there. if it means i have to vommit at the end. i cant walk right for days so be it. Also its mental. try to take 2 or 3 steps faster per second when your brain says stop dont stop push harder

  7. during practice make yourself uncomfortable by like...wearing 4 socks..when you get in the meet you will be running whilre you are comfortable so your time will decrease
