Hello. I've run for the past 3 years, only during gym class. I'm always out of breath and it takes a good 10 or 15 minute rest to get back my breath. It's definately not because Im out of shape, because I've been running a mile or more 4 times a week for 3 years. My doctor says that it is because I'm out of shape though. And no matter how much data i show her, she claims it's my fault. I'm really not that concerned about what a dctor says, so I don't think I need to go to a doctor. But for tennis next year, i will need to run A LOT. Is there a good way to be a good runner, one that will survive a short or long distance run? Tips appreciated. Thanks

  1. The running that i required for tennis is NOTHING like running you do you should do SUICIDES instead of mile runs because a sprinting excersise like is the EXACT kind of running you do in tennis!!!

I no this for a fact...

  2. Hi Kristen,

For tennis you need to do sprinting. So start out with approx 50 meters and simply do it as fast as you can. Take a break and repeat. Take a break and repeat.  The next day you will be doing it faster. And you can do more repeats. In seven days you will be a lot faster. The following week increase to approx 100 meters, etc. Running longer distances like a mile is not going to be as helpful. This time your doc is probably right. You can run a slow mile 4 times a week and`still be out of shape. You would be better off running 4 or 5 miles once a week to get in good shape.

  3. tennis and running long distance are nothing in common do demanding 100 meter work out such as 20 repetitions of 100 at 20 seconds or less of course
